Caramelized Onion Dip

Servings: 4

Prep time: 5 min Cooking time: 15 min

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 medium onion minced

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, non-fat

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. In a pan, sauté onion and olive oil over medium-low heat until caramelized and golden brown, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. If onions stick to the pan or dry out, reduce the heat and add a splash of water to rehydrate onions.

  3. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.

  4. In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, garlic powder, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.

  5. Stir in caramelized onions. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours prior to serving, to allow flavors to meld.

Notes:
  • Keep for up to 3 days in the fridge. Do not freeze.

  • Serve with fresh veggies, whole grain pita bread, crackers, or chips.

  • Makes about 1 cup. The serving size is 4 Tbsp per person.
